Connecting Neighbors, Meeting Challenges

Dupont Circle is a vibrant, diverse community and most of us would like to continue living here. We share a sense of neighborhood: we participate in local organizations and activities, we shop at local stores and we eat in local restaurants. We also share a concern in common that we may need assistance in the future to maintain this way of life. DCV enables you to do this. It is a single organization that provides assistance in multiple ways. We furnish neighbor volunteers to respond to your requests, we refer you to additional service providers, we assist in home maintenance, we provide transportation, we connect you to villagers with interests similar to yours and we remain in touch so you never feel isolated.  In short, we exist to help you and your neighbors be part of a caring, inclusive community. Join us to make this happen.

MARK THE DATE!

Saturday, March 10m 2012

 Woman’s National Democratic Club

 6:30-9:30 pm

With this year’s theme, Spring Forward With The Village, we welcome the return of daylight saving time, marking spring and Washington’s fabled cherry blossoms.

This year’s auction again features a week in a Paris apartment in historic Marais district. Located on a quiet one-block long street, this two bedroom apartment is a five-minute walk to Notre Dame and a ten-minute walk to the Place de Bastille.

In addition to joining us on March 10, you can help by donating items we want to focus us: wining and dining; celebrated authors; indulgences; learning and growing; in-and out-of-town getaways, and hearth and home.

Sunday Soup Salon

Villagers had the pleasure of hearing Roberts Owen, the attorney who worked pro bono for over five years, to defeat the Congressionally generated plan to build a freeway that would have destroyed many Washington DC neighborhoods and wiped out the very house in which Soup Salon was held. The defeat of the freeway, paved the way for our current mass transit system.
