Longtime Washington Post writer and columnist Abigail Trafford will be guest speaker at the Village’s program for members, volunteers and guests marking the first anniversary of our membership launch. She is the first in our springtime speaker’s series for the Dupont Circle

Village. Traffordis one of the country’s most insightful analysts of how people  today approach retirement in a far more active and purposeful manner. Her two most recent books are As Time Goes By, recently published in paperback, and My Time. Her books will be available for

purchase and she will sign them for Villagers, both before and after her talk. Find out more

about her at abigail@mytimegeneration.com  or www.abigailtrafford.com

We have much to celebrate! In our first year, we have recruited 80 members and more than 50 volunteers who have provided dozens of services for members. We’ve created many social, cultural, wellness and community-building activities and put our Village on the map locally and nationally.

In late January, Bernice Hutchinson became the Village’s executive director with a deep background in working with older individuals.  She will speak about her vision of our village.

The meeting will be held at Sumner School, the same location where we officially launched the Village last February. As in the past, we’ll start with refreshments on the entrance level, and then move up to the grand room on the top floor for the program.

We will update you on what has happened in the past year – and what you can expect in the coming year. We also will tell you about the rest of the speaker series on topics ranging from geriatric legal issues, “accessibility” features to include in home renovations, reverse mortgages, and other “health and wellness” issues.

Bring a friend with you so they can learn how Dupont Circle Village works and what it can do for them!
